Biélorussie : à savoir avant de partir

L’essentiel

  • The UK and US advise against all travel to Belarus; the US Embassy in Minsk offers no consular services.
  • The tourist visa waiver does not cover direct travel to or from Russia. Qualifying conventional Russian or Belarusian visas may be mutually recognised at designated crossings; e-visas are excluded.
  • Bring proof of medical insurance (min. €10,000 coverage); you may also be asked to show funds of about €25 per day.
  • Register stays over 10 days (hotels do it automatically); fines and deportation for violations.
  • Many Western cards may be blocked by their issuing banks; bring EUR/USD cash. Russian Mir cards work widely.

Entrée et visas

Belarus has separate nationality- and route-specific visa schemes. British visitors can stay up to 30 days per visit, 90 per calendar year, visa-free until 31 December 2026, except direct travel to/from Russia. US visitors need an e-visa for eligible stays up to 30 days or a conventional visa. Medical insurance and registration obligations apply. Check a Russian or Belarusian conventional visa against the designated-crossing mutual-recognition rules.

Validité du passeport: At least 3 months beyond arrival (beyond visa expiry if a visa is used).

À la frontière, on peut vous demander

  • Show medical insurance (≥€10,000) and, if asked, funds of ~€25 per day.
  • Make sure you get an exit stamp, or you may be refused next time.
  • Keep your customs form if you declared cash.

Douane

  • Declare cash/travellers' cheques over USD 10,000 equivalent; you can't take out more than you declared on entry.
  • Drones need permits; photography and filming equipment may attract attention.
  • Political literature or symbols (white-red-white flag) can lead to detention.
