Before you go to Monaco: what to know

Must know

  • France handles immigration; Monaco does not provide a fresh Schengen 90-day allowance.

Entry and visas

France handles immigration for Monaco. British short-stay visitors follow the shared Schengen 90/180 allowance and passport-validity rules. Check French transit and admission requirements for your own nationality before travel; a visit to Monaco is not a way to reset Schengen time.

Passport validity: Non-EU short-stay visitors: issued within the previous 10 years and valid at least 3 months after planned Schengen departure.

At the border you may be asked for

  • Carry evidence of accommodation, onward travel and funds; allow time for external border checks.
