Before you go to Micronesia: what to know

Must know

  • Tourist visits of 30 days or less do not need an advance entry permit; longer stays need permission. Special arrangements apply to US, Palau and Marshall Islands citizens.
  • Carry USD cash for departure fees and remote islands; most airports have no ATM.

Entry and visas

Ordinary visits of 30 days or less do not require an advance entry permit. Carry a valid passport and onward travel; complete the Customs, Immigration and Quarantine form. Longer visits need an entry permit. Special arrangements apply to US, Palau and Marshall Islands citizens; do not infer a long-stay entitlement from the general tourist rule.

Passport validity: Tourism authority requires 120 days beyond entry; confirm with airline/immigration if another authority asks for more.
