Visitors normally receive a permit for up to one month on arrival; apply in advance for longer stays. Nationals on the visa-national list need an advance visa as well. Work is not allowed on a normal visitor permit. Carry onward travel, accommodation, funds and medical/evacuation insurance evidence.

Geldautomaten: Only one ATM is listed, at the petrol station. Stanley’s bank offers Visa/Mastercard cash advances, subject to fees and ID.

- Cards are increasingly accepted, but carry cash for rural travel.
- Avoid leaving with much FKP: exchanging it abroad may be difficult.

Kleidung: Dress for rapid weather changes: layered clothing, waterproof outerwear and strong boots outside Stanley.
